When I think of a picnic, I think of a nice local park where we bring our prepared food and maybe a soccer ball to kick around after. Little did I know that picnics in India and Nepal are all-day adventures that take you to far-away places. This left us a little unprepared and surprised on our first picnic but I have since learned a few things about what my boss considers a "proper" picnic.First, food is prepared on site. This makes the planning a little harder but the food definitely tastes better. You might build a fire to cook the food or bring your own stove and gas.
Second, before/during/after the food is prepared/being prepared, you have to go for a long walk. This walk will inevitably be longer, harder and perhaps more expensive than you expected. You might take a break in the walk to use someone's dupatta for fishing.
Third and most importantly, picnics will always end in a dance party.
claire, i'm so glad to have this glimpse into your work abroad! i was just thinking about you this week and wondering what exactly you were up to overseas.
ReplyDeletepraying for you.
wow that's sounds like a way better picnic than we have here. i believe dancing should be incorporated into many more gatherings!
